Coda Automotive’s first production vehicle will be an all-electric, 4-door 5-passenger sedan. Coda Automotive is a manufacturer and distributor of all-electric, zero-emissions, highway cars. The company anticipates the vehicle’s range to be 90-120 miles depending on individual driving habits and is electronically limited to 80 mph for peak performance.
The cost of charging the vehicle based on electricity k/w hour averages across the US is estimated at $0.03 per mile. The sedan charges at a standard 110 or 220V outlet and is powered by a lithium iron phosphate battery system.
The car has been met with bad reviews mainly relating to poor levels of initial build quality. The car also suffers from substandard ride quality as the chassis groans and creaks over bumps and uneven pavement, it won’t match any other $45,000 car on the market, or any $35,000 car for that matter.
The car is expected to retail at $45k when first released and is not expected to recoup the premium in its lifetime given that it is estimated to save a total of $10k over its lifetime.
The Coda Sedan is based on Hafei Saibao with new front and rear fascias.
